James Watt was born in Greenock , Scotland. He spent a year Londen. He was called to work on Newcome steam engine. While working on it he found he could make the engine work more efficently. With his idea he went to a businessman named John Roebuck. Later when Roebuck went bankrupt he got a new partner named Matthew Boulton. Later when he went to Parliment so no one else can use his version of the steam - engine. For the next 25 years he produced steam - engines when he died in 1800 he was a very wealthy man.
